KUCHING: Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg has proposed a sum of RM9.891 billion for the State Budget 2020.
He said out of the sum, RM6.597 billion would be for development expenditure while the remaining RM3.294 billion for operating expenditure.
This was lower than the State Budget 2019 which was at RM11.914 billion.
Despite so, Abang Johari said the State Budget 2020 would focus on six key strategic thrust aimed at stimulating the growth of the state economy towards inclusive sustainable and equitable development for all spectrum of society.
The six strategic thrusts were: development bias and rural focus budget; unifying the state development agenda; digital economy as the key enabler for the states economic transformation; investment driven economic growth through further broadening investment base; private sector as a catalyst for state economic development; and enhancing the service delivery of the state government through digitalisation.
