Api-Api race fires up with PKR Sabah chief facing eight candidates

KOTA KINABALU (Sept 12): The Api-Api state seat will see a nine-cornered fight among seasoned politicians and new faces in the upcoming state polls.

Incumbent Api-Api assemblywoman Datuk Christina Liew, who is also the Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) Sabah chairperson, is defending the seat which she has represented for two consecutive terms from 2013.

She will be facing off against Parti Bersatu Sabah (PBS) deputy president Datuk Dr Yee Moh Chai, Liberal Democratic Party (LDP) president Datuk Chin Su Phin, Parti Cinta Sabah (PCS) deputy president Datuk Pang Yuk Ming, Parti Gagasan Rakyat Sabah (PGRS) candidate Chong Tze Kiun, Parti Perpaduan Rakyat Sabah (PPRS) deputy president Lo Yau Foh as well as three independent candidates Sim Sie Hong, Ng Chun Sua and Marcel Jude.

Apart from Liew, Yee, Pang and Marcel, the contenders for Api-Api state seats are first-time candidates.

Returning Officer Robert Lipon announced the candidates at around 11.40am today.
