KUCHING: Julau MP Larry Sng, who is leading a delegation comprising affected families of the 47 Malaysians being detained in Cambodia and media practitioners, arrived at the Cambodian provincial jail at around noon (Malaysian time) today.
It took the delegation about two hours to get to the Cambodian jail from the Siem Reap International Airport.
However, not all delegates were permitted to enter the prison, according to the reporter of The Borneo Post’s sister paper See Hua Daily News who makes part of the delegation.
It is learnt that only nine individuals are allowed to make entry into the prison. The nine who were granted permission were Sng, two affected family members, representative from Bernama and a couple of officials.
This group is not allowed to bring along their mobile devices or camera into the facility.
Recently, the Foreign Affairs Ministry and Malaysian Embassy in Cambodia confirmed that the 47 Malaysians were arrested in the city of Poipet, Banteay Meanchey province in western Cambodia on Dec 11 last year.
The group is being held in the Cambodian jail for alleged involvement in illegal online gambling.
