KUALA LUMPUR: The police impounded assets from drug seizures estimated to be worth RM22.19 million as a result of operations carried out nationwide between Jan 1 and Feb 9.
Deputy director (Intelligence/Operations) of the Narcotics CID, Bukit Aman, Datuk Kang Chez Chiang said the Narcotics CID arrested 23,077 offenders from the operations comprising suppliers (3,016), drug possessors (6,517) and addicts(13,544).
He said that throughout the operation period, police also seized various types of drugs worth RM16.36 million.
In the latest case, police detained six local suspects aged between 34 and 39 years who were believed to be involved in drug syndicates in Kuala Lumpur and Selangor last Monday.
“Police seized drugs estimated to be worth RM1.1 million in four raids in Rawang and Kajang in Selangor, and Sri Hartamas and Mont Kiara here,” he said at a media conference, here yesterday.
Kang said police also confiscated a Beretta 950 pistol, 101 bullets, seven vehicles including a Mercedes Benz and cash and jewellery with the total impounded property valued at more than RM500,000.
All the suspects were being remanded until Monday for further investigation under Section 39 of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952, he added.— Bernama
